O.K. this Ari Aster guy is making movies. He gets praise for his horrifying films.
The thing I don't get is why no one is calling him on his obvious plagiarism of The Wicker Man,
and The Dark Secret Of Harvest Home ?
I sat and watched Midsommar with total disbelief that I had figured out what is going to happen as soon as they get to village . I mean i saw this same reclusive community style in The Wicker Man from 1973 take a look
This trailer is example A. The Wicker Man is almost a blueprint for the weirdness of the Swedish villiige the group of people end up in. But there is a difference in Midsommer in that there are more then one person coming to the gathering It seems that there are a group of people from the village bring back visitors from all around the globe. This leads to them all living in a border house filled with IKEA furniture. After taking some LSD the group goes to meet the heavy breathing elders then the film starts going in to a spiral of weirdness. I wont go into detail other then to say i was just bored watching it.
its my opinion that Ari mashed two films together to make this the first as I mentioned was the Wicker Man. example B
Does The Dark Secret Of Harvest Home look familiar of course it does. from the story to even to the costumes and crowns. I cant believe this Ari guy did not see these two films. they are both in his long drawn out yawn fest Midsommor. When are people going make some thing that has never been made again. To me Ari Aster is nothing but a copy machine and his films are boring. I mean all the good guys create stuff not mask it as a new thing. If you liked the Midsommer it probably because its new to people who have not seen these films. Ari Aster make something new for a change. What do you guys think?
