On Sunday March 6th 1983 at 8:00 PM Chicago time NBC Premiered a loose Pilot called The Demon Murder Case. The movie is based on the files of the Warrens who were ghost hunters aka Demonologists from Connecticut. For those who don't know demonology is the study of demons or beliefs about demons, especially the methods used to summon and control them. Well anyway back to the story. NBC based this film on the Brookfield Muder Case in which the defendant in the case pleaded not guilty by reason of demon possession. I will say it's a very rough watch the cast is made up of veteran t.v. actors including Cloris Leachman, Eddie Albert, and Joyce Van Patten. Also staring Kevin Bacon. This movie is a rough watch Obviously not beacuse of the acting, the subject matter was dicey for 1983. America was in the grip of the famed Satanic Panic and NBC was jumping on as fast as they could. So the story suffers it could not be prime time i mean watching a guy sing Waltzing Matilda drunk for 5 minutes is bad but not as bad as dubbed demon noises,and voices. I would offer what could have been if they did this as a series in the 90's it could have been big bigger then the x- files perhaps. We can see how the movies took off and are still going.
I've read the Conjuring 3 is baseed on this case. so if you want a heads up check this movie out, otherwise for Conjuring fans only!
